The Ongwhehonwhe Environment/Ecology NGO Links

Native peoples struggles and visions, grass roots environmental and ecology organizations and communities, non-profit and uncompromised political organizations.

This is only a small sampling of the tens of thousands of nonprofit non-government organizations who are altruistically doing jobs that their government has neglected and in most cases have opposed. The magnitude of these organziations speaks to the magnitude of the present NEED and the maginitude of the present dysfunction, counterproductivity, and failure of most of today's unaccountable governments (but accountable in terms of large sums of money to the transnational corporate elitists) who are bent on continuing their control, manipulation, and exploitation of their people, just as they exploit and subjugate natural systems,  wildlife, people, and natural resources. Below we will list mostly national organizations, acknowledging that every state and country have hundreds of local and regional non-profit land trusts, watershed preservation organizations, ecology centers, community supported agriculture (CSAs) organizations, food coops, community gardening projects, creek and river restoration associations, lake and forest restoration organizations, ecology education groups, bioregional associations, local permaculture societies, environmental protection groups, and the like too numerous to list here but of which most share a common purpose, but are focusing their efforts on specific needed projects. From the numerous Audobon Society chapters to the numerous American Indian protection agencies the gamut is wide and the busy people are many.

In most cases the following organizations represent the common vision and legitimate struggle for people's rights of self determination, environmental justice, environmental health, sustainable living, in the face of transnational greedy paranoiac aggression by alien, corrupt, distant, absent and faceless self serving cartels of power. The people below -- the assemblage of rainbow warriors, represent a common spirit for liberation, dignity, harmony, justice, balancem abundance, and happiness -- they, and a thousand times them, will serve joyously to build the RAINBOWBRIDGE for future generations.

Center for Ecoliteracy founded by Fritjof Capra, dedicated to fostering the experience and understanding of the natural world recognizing food systems and watersheds as essential systems that provide meaningful contexts for achieving ecological literacy (ecological understanding).

The Center for Functional Research was incorporated in 1992 as a scientific and educational nonprofit. Its central theme is that there is specific life energy in the cosmos and in the atmosphere, and that this energy is closely coupled with consciousness. The Center will support, conduct, and disseminate information on research involving the natural energetic processes in living and non-living matter, and the distorted or pathological transformations and variations of natural processes. A fundamental premise of the research associates at the center is that the same basic processes are operating at the microscopic and macroscopic level, in living and non-living systems, and that these processes are essentially energetic in nature and often co-function with the conscious and unconscious intention of human beings, including researchers. It is the aim of the Center to study these processes in the natural biological realm, in medical pathology, such as cancer, in weather in the Earth's atmosphere, and through the use of special energy accumulating and directing devices, and devices used to estimate the effect of human consciousness on biological and physical systems.

John Seed on Ecopsychology "In spite of the modern delusion of alienation, of separation from the living Earth, we humans are not aliens, we belong here. The human psyche too is Earth-born, the result of 4000 million years of continuous evolution. The complex, dynamic biology from which psyche emerged necessarily remains the matrix, the grounding of any sane psychology. I take "ecopsychology" to mean psychology in service to the Earth."

Pioneers of Change:: Pioneers of Change Network. Pioneers of Change is an emerging, self-organising, global learning community of committed, young people, aged 25-33, from diverse cultural, social, and professional backgrounds. The community evolved as a common experience was voiced and shared - an experience of wanting to contribute to a purpose higher than self, yet facing internal and external systemic constraints in trying to do so, and of, in our day to day strivings, feeling pressured to compromise our personal values and beliefs.

Redefining Progress: Progress includes environmental justice, environmental health, sustainable environment (significantly lowering the ecological footprint), and raising the happiness quotient. That is not going back, but real progress. Because sustainability requires the broad engagement of individuals, organizations, and institutions. RP works with these partners to change technology, influence the choices individuals make, and resolve pressing social and environmental issues. RP also adds to our partners' efforts by pursuing systemic change in underlying economic, political, and social mechanisms.

Vandana Shiva: A Film, India Divided - Diversity and Democracy Under Attack, Shiva has eloquently blended her views on the environment, agriculture, spirituality, and women's rights into a powerful philosophy.” -Utne Reader “One of the world's most prominent radical scientists.” -The Guardian (UK) In India Divided environmental, human rights, and antiglobalization activist Vandana Shiva chronicles the internal battles of a nation that is both the world's largest democracy and a leading nuclear power. Shiva describes a society where traditional cultures collide with the new economy of globalization, and charts the course of India's war of fundamentalisms in the age of terror. From the IT centers of Bangalore to the villages of Uttar Pradesh, from the massacre at Gujarat and the popular emergence of Hindutva's narrow communalism to the decades-old battle for Kashmir, India Divided reveals a convergence of globalization and terrorism. Looking to the plights of India’s Dalit communities and millions of poor subsistence farmers impoverished or displaced by biotechnology, seed patents, and the spate of mega-dam projects, Shiva argues that these silent killers form a local terror unmatched in devastation. In India Divided Shiva addresses India’s most urgent threats with gravity and hope.
